At the end of a busy day, you will always need to unwind and rest. Sleep helps your brain and body recover and recharge. It is essential for survival, along with other basic needs. Physical activity can influence the quality of your sleep, which affects how you function during the day.
The phrase “beauty sleep” reflects the idea that rest is important for feeling good and presenting yourself well each day. Getting the right amount of sleep could support your energy and overall well-being. It is possible for you to relax your body and achieve better sleep without staying awake all night. Regular exercise may enhance your sleep drive, which can help you fall asleep faster. Daily exercise can also help improve insomnia to make it easier for deep, uninterrupted sleep. Staying active consistently may also reduce the chances of sleep apnea symptoms.
What exercise advice could help you sleep soundly? Aim for about 30 minutes of moderate physical activity per day to help you sleep better. Try fun exercises that will get you excited and ready to sweat, such as sprints, dancing, or cycling. HIIT-style workouts may help lower cortisol levels to improve sleep patterns, too. At home, you can try creating your own HIIT circuits with exercises like high knees or flutter kicks.
Even if you are usually inactive, there is a simple way to get started. Consider beginning with resistance-based exercises, as some adults have reported that this type of exercise can make a difference in sleep. Adding just a few extra minutes of sleep could help you power through the day. Examples of resistance-based exercises include using resistance bands and weights. Bodyweight resistance exercises, such as push-ups, wall sits, or squats, are also effective when your workout time is limited.
Regular exercise could help you maintain fitness while promoting better sleep, leaving you refreshed and focused for the morning. Take full advantage of the amenities and classes available at our center to support both your fitness and rest.
